Sig Hansen’s Health Update

Sig Hansen, the veteran captain of the F/V Northwestern on Deadliest Catch, has faced significant health scares in recent years. He suffered a heart attack in 2016 and another in 2018. In August 2025, he shared with Parade that his heart is now “20 percent stronger” and that he has partially quit smoking. June Hansen’s Health Update

June Hansen, Sig’s wife of over 20 years, was diagnosed with cancer in 2019. Sig revealed her diagnosis during Season 15 of Deadliest Catch, stating, “We do know that this area on her neck is cancer, we just don’t know if there’s more.” Since then, June has been undergoing treatment and is reportedly in good health. Sig and June have two adopted daughters, Mandy and Nina Hansen, and four grandchildren.
