Jessa Duggar is getting candid about how frustrating gaining baby weight can be.
In a video posted to her YouTube channel on Monday, Sept. 15, the Counting On alum, 32, spoke about starting to work out again after welcoming her baby son Edward Owen this past July. Jenna shared that she’s planning on using a fitness app since she has gained more weight this pregnancy than in her past ones.
“As far as the weight loss goes, I usually gain at least 40 pounds in every pregnancy. This pregnancy with Edward, I gained more like 45 probably,” Jenna shares. “I want to say probably half of that weight’s gone just from giving birth and a big baby and the placenta and all the water weight and everything from summer. But I’m like, ‘Boy, I still have a long ways to go.’”

The proud mom says she realized she has about 20 more pounds to go and explains that once she’s working out and eating healthy, she hopes to see the “numbers go down.”
“It never goes down as fast as I want it to,” she admits. “I try not to let it stress me out too much. If you ask Ben, he’d probably say I do stress about it too much.”
“But people will say, ‘Give your body time. Nine months in, nine months out with a baby.’ Took you nine months to put on the weight, expect about nine months to get back to a place where you’re feeling good,” says Duggar. “I’m trying not to stress about it too much.”
She goes on to say that it’s “frustrating” when she goes to put on her clothing and nothing fits anymore.
“I already went out and did a little quick shopping run to just find some clothes that fit better, some shirts, some jeans, whatever,” says Duggar. “But then it’s one of those things where I come home and I put them on and I’m like, ‘This doesn’t look good. Why did I buy this? These look terrible.’”
“Ben’s like, ‘Calm down. You literally just gave birth to a human, so you’re fine. Like calm down.’ I’m like, ‘Nothing fits.’ I’m definitely not one of those bounce back, you know, 6 weeks later wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes,” explains Duggar.
However, the mom of five says that she knows that every situation is different, and she can’t compare herself to someone else.
“Absolutely not. Everybody’s different. Everybody’s timeline is different,” says Duggar. “Being older is different, too. I said this before, this was my first pregnancy working out. And yet I gained more weight? I would’ve thought I would’ve gained less weight. I want to assume that’s muscle. Probably not.”
