Doubling Down With The Derricos family is currently dealing with some tough times. The TLC family revealed recently that Deon’s mother, Marian, or better known to fans as GG, is still battling cancer. Now, the family is joining together to try and help their beloved matriarch. Doubling Down With The Derricos Family Asks For Support

Doubling Down With The Derricos has joined together as a family to ask for support for their matriarch, Marian. Better known as “GG,” Marian continues to face a battle with cancer. It’s been 11 years since GG was unexpectedly diagnosed with stage 2 lung cancer.

An unexpected trip to the emergency room after a fall led doctors to discover the cancer. The family was, of course, shocked and began fighting the disease. This was in 2014, and at the time, GG was told she only had 1 to 3 years to live. However, she’s beaten those odds and is still strong and fighting today.

The family decided to stop chemotherapy and try a holistic approach to helping her cancer. What led to this decision? The family shared why she has decided to go holistic instead of another round of chemotherapy. Below is the list of reasons:

• Tumors shrinking, only to return.
• The heavy toll of chemotherapy and radiation.
• A diagnosis of COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and serious heart complications.

GG Derico does have health insurance, but unfortunately, insurance does not cover holistic medicine, which can be very expensive. So, GG, along with Karen Derrico, has started a GoFundMe to help raise money for her care.

Fans have fallen in love with Marian and love seeing her on Doubling Down With The Derricos. In fact, a new season premiered last week.

Why Are They Asking For Money?

Doubling Down With The Derricos star Marian, aka GG, revealed that normally, she would never ask for money from anyone. If she could physically work right now, she would. However, her health will not allow her to do so.

She also touched on the fact that she was not under contract with the popular TLC show, so she received very little compensation for her appearances. As for her son Deon, she said he would do anything in the world for her, but he has 15 children to support, and she could never ask him to put her needs before theirs.

Without some support from fans, GG states she would never be able to afford holistic treatment. Her last round of chemo was very hard on her, and she’s felt defeated recently.

When speaking with fans about the GoFundMe the family has set up for GG’s care, she wanted to make sure everyone knew that the only legit links are ones from family who will have a verified blue check mark on their social media.
